Inequity Aversion

TUT 100 - Virtue in Animal and Machine - Professor Weinman

Answer the following questions. Record your answers in your Reading Journal.
  1. In your own words, briefly summarize the experimental setup of Braüer et al. (2009) and how it differs from those of Brosnan and de Waal (2003, 2005).
  2. Give an example from your own experience where you were confronted with inequity; were you averse or not? Briefly explain whether (and how) you identified more with the capuchins of Brosnan's study or the apes of Braüer's study.
  3. Suppose you are the chair of the Committee on Academic Standing's subcommittee on Academic Honesty. You have received pp. 120-123 of Wild Justice and pp. 127-128 of "Wild justice redux" (Soc. Just. Res.) with the charge that the authors are guilty of self-plagiarism.
    1. Briefly describe the criteria you would use to assess the "responsibility"1 for the charge.
    2. Explain how these authors should be evaluated according to those criteria.

Footnotes:

1"Responsible" is the term used by the subcommittee in lieu of "guilty."
